Zakamensk, also known as Gorodok, is a town located in the Republic of Buryatia, Russia, at the confluence of the Dzhida and Khiroi rivers. It has a population of 11,116 (2010 Census). The town was founded in 1789 as a Cossack settlement and was granted town status in 1959. The climate of Zakamensk is humid continental, with cold winters and warm summers. The town is home to a number of historical and cultural landmarks, including the Zakamensk Museum of Local Lore, the Church of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin, and the Zakamensk Orthodox Church.
