Zadonsk is a town in Lipetsk Oblast, Russia, located on the left bank of the Don River. It has a population of around 10,000 people and is known for its rich history and cultural heritage. The town was founded in 1615 as a fortress to protect the southern border of Russia from the Crimean Tatars. It played an important role in the defense of Russia during the Time of Troubles and the Napoleonic Wars. Zadonsk is also home to the Zadonsk Monastery, which was founded in 1692 and is one of the most important religious sites in Russia.
