Yerington is a city in Lyon County, Nevada, United States, with a population of 3,048 as of the 2010 census. It is located in the Mason Valley, approximately 80 miles (130 km) southeast of Reno, and 100 miles (160 km) north of Tonopah. The city has a semi-arid climate, with hot summers and cold winters. Yerington was founded in 1864 as a stagecoach stop on the Overland Trail, and it later became a center for mining and agriculture. The city's heritage is reflected in its many historic buildings, including the Lyon County Courthouse, which was built in 1865.
