Yelan' is a rural locality (a selo) in Volgograd Oblast, Russia, located on the right bank of the Medveditsa River, 25 kilometers (16 mi) northeast of Volgograd. It has a population of 3,632 (2010 Census). The climate is humid continental, with average temperatures ranging from -10°C (14°F) in January to +25°C (77°F) in July. The village was founded in 1780 by Cossacks from the Don Host Oblast. It is home to the Church of the Intercession of the Holy Mother of God, built in 1848, and the Museum of Local Lore.
