Yasnogorsk, formerly known as Laptevo, is a town in Tula Oblast, Russia, located at the confluence of the Upa and Oka rivers. The town has a humid continental climate, with warm summers and cold, snowy winters. It was founded in 1958 as a settlement for workers of the Yasnogorsk Thermal Power Plant and was granted town status in 1965. The town's heritage includes the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, built in 1824, and the Yasnogorsk Museum of Local Lore, which houses exhibits on the town's history and culture.
