Xiayang is a subdistrict of Baoshan District, Shanghai, China. It is located in the northeast of Baoshan District, bordering Zhenru Town to the east, Jiading District to the north, and Yangpu District to the south. The subdistrict has a total area of 10.36 square kilometers and a population of 108,000. The climate of Xiayang is subtropical monsoon climate, with an average annual temperature of 15.8 °C (60.4 °F) and an average annual precipitation of 1,200 millimeters (47 in). Xiayang has a long history and rich heritage. It was first established as a town in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). In the Qing Dynasty (1644-1912), Xiayang was a prosperous commercial town. In the early 20th century, Xiayang was a major industrial area. Today, Xiayang is a modern subdistrict with a thriving economy and a rich cultural heritage.
