The village has a humid continental climate with warm, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. Woodville was founded in 1836 by Samuel Wood, a pioneer from New York. The village was originally known as "Wood's Corners" but was renamed to "Woodville" in 1852. Woodville has a rich history and heritage, with many of its original buildings still standing today. The village is home to several historical sites, including the Woodville Opera House, which was built in 1882 and is still in operation today.
