Wölferbütt is a municipality in the district of Schmalkalden-Meiningen, in Thuringia, Germany. It is located in the southern part of the Thuringian Forest, at an altitude of 450 meters (1,476 feet). The municipality has a population of approximately 1,200 people and covers an area of 11.6 square kilometers (4.5 square miles). The climate is temperate, with average temperatures ranging from -1°C (30°F) in January to 18°C (64°F) in July. The municipality has a long history, dating back to the 12th century. It was first mentioned in a document from 1182. In the 16th century, the municipality was a center of the Protestant Reformation.
