Winamac is a town in Pulaski County, Indiana, United States, with a population of 2,490 as of the 2010 census. It is located in northwestern Indiana, approximately 60 miles (97 km) south of Chicago and 20 miles (32 km) west of South Bend. The town was founded in 1835 by William Winamac, a Potawatomi chief, and was named after him. Winamac has a humid continental climate, with hot, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. The town's heritage is closely tied to its Native American roots, and there are several historical sites in the area that commemorate the Potawatomi people.
