Wildomar, California, is a city in Riverside County with a population of 32,176 as of the 2010 census. It is located in the Inland Empire region of Southern California, approximately 60 miles southeast of Los Angeles and 20 miles north of Temecula. The city has a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters. Wildomar was founded in 1887 by a group of farmers and ranchers. The city's name is derived from the Spanish words "wild" and "omar," which mean "wild grape." Wildomar is home to several parks and recreational areas, including the Wildomar Lake Recreation Area and the Santa Rosa Plateau Ecological Reserve. The city also has a number of historical landmarks, including the Wildomar Museum and the Old Town Wildomar Historic District.
