The city has a humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and mild winters. Whitesboro was founded in 1846 by a group of settlers from Tennessee and was named after one of the settlers, William White. The city has a rich history and heritage, and is home to several historical landmarks, including the Whitesboro Courthouse and the Whitesboro Cemetery.
