Wewoka is a city in Seminole County, Oklahoma, United States. It is located at the intersection of U.S. Highway 270 and State Highway 56, approximately 50 miles (80 km) southeast of Oklahoma City. The city has a humid subtropical climate, with hot, humid summers and mild winters. Wewoka was founded in 1898 as a railroad town and was named after a Seminole Indian chief. The city is home to the Seminole Nation Museum, which houses a collection of artifacts and exhibits on the history and culture of the Seminole people.
