West Barnstable is a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Barnstable, Massachusetts, United States. It is located on the western side of Cape Cod, approximately 10 miles (16 km) from the town center of Barnstable. The climate is humid subtropical, with warm, humid summers and cool, crisp winters. The average temperature in July is 73°F (23°C), while the average temperature in January is 32°F (0°C). The area has a rich history and heritage, dating back to the arrival of the Pilgrims in the 17th century. West Barnstable was originally a farming community, and many of the old farmhouses and barns still stand today. The area is also home to several historic churches and cemeteries.
