West Babylon is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Babylon, Suffolk County, New York, United States. It is located on the South Shore of Long Island, approximately 30 miles (48 km) east of Manhattan. The hamlet has a population of 43,213 as of the 2020 census. The weather in West Babylon is temperate, with warm summers and cold winters. The area was originally inhabited by the Algonquian Native Americans. In the 17th century, the Dutch settled the area and established a whaling industry. The British took over the area in the 18th century, and it became part of the United States after the Revolutionary War.
