Wellsville is a village in Allegany County, New York, United States, located at 42.1220100° N, -77.9480600° W. It has a humid continental climate with cold, snowy winters and warm, humid summers. Wellsville was founded in 1798 and was originally known as Scio. It was renamed in 1826 after Wells & Co., a local lumber company. The village is home to several historic buildings, including the Wellsville Creative Arts Center, which is housed in a former church built in 1876.
