Waurika is a small city in southern Oklahoma, United States, with a population of around 2,000. It is located in Jefferson County, approximately 90 miles south of Oklahoma City. The city experiences a humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and mild winters. Waurika was founded in 1887 as a stop on the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad. It quickly became a major shipping point for agricultural products, particularly cotton. The city's heritage is closely tied to its agricultural roots, and it is still home to several cotton gins and grain elevators.
