Washingtonville is a village located in the town of Blooming Grove, Orange County, New York, United States. The village is situated in the Hudson Valley region of New York, approximately 50 miles (80 km) northwest of New York City. The climate of Washingtonville is humid continental, with hot, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. The village has a rich history dating back to the 18th century, when it was known as the "Burnt District" due to a series of fires that destroyed the settlement. The village was renamed Washingtonville in 1811 in honor of George Washington. The village is home to several historic sites, including the Washingtonville Historic District, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
