Wāna is a city in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan, situated at an elevation of 2,894 feet. It is located in the South Waziristan district, 30 miles northwest of Tank and 120 miles southwest of Bannu. The climate of Wāna is arid, with hot summers and cold winters. The average temperature in July is 95°F, while the average temperature in January is 45°F. Wāna has a long and rich history, dating back to the 6th century AD. The city was once a major center of Buddhism, and many Buddhist ruins can still be found in the area. Wāna was also a major center of the Pashtun tribes, and it played an important role in the Afghan-Sikh Wars.
