Walhalla, South Carolina is a small city located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, approximately 30 miles northwest of Greenville. With a subtropical climate, the city experiences hot, humid summers and mild winters. Walhalla was established in 1850 and named after the Norse mythological hall of slain heroes, Valhalla. It played a significant role in the textile industry during the 19th and 20th centuries, and today retains a rich heritage and cultural identity.
