The town was founded in 1790 and is named after Abraham Voorhees, one of the original settlers. Voorheesville is home to the Voorheesville Central School District and the Voorheesville Public Library. The town is also home to several parks and recreation areas, including the Voorheesville Park and the Black Creek Park.
