Voltlage is a municipality in the district of Osnabrück, Lower Saxony, Germany. It is located approximately 10 km northeast of Osnabrück, at an elevation of 70 m. The average annual temperature is 8.5 °C, and the average annual precipitation is 750 mm. Voltlage was first mentioned in 1188 as "Voltolde". The name is derived from the Old Saxon words "vol" (field) and "tolde" (toll). In the Middle Ages, Voltlage was an important trading center on the Hellweg, a major trade route between Cologne and Bremen. The town was granted market rights in 1347. Voltlage is home to several historical buildings, including the St. Vitus Church, which was built in the 13th century.
