Vinita, Oklahoma, is a city located at the junction of U.S. Highways 60 and 69, approximately 70 miles northeast of Tulsa. The city has a humid subtropical climate, with hot summers and mild winters. Vinita was founded in 1871 by the St. Louis and San Francisco Railroad and was named after Vinita Durant, the wife of railroad executive Thomas Durant. The city has a rich history and heritage, with many buildings dating back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
