Villanueva de Alcardete, also known as Villanueva del Cardete, is a municipality located in the province of Toledo, in the autonomous community of Castille-La Mancha, Spain. It is situated at an altitude of 685 meters above sea level and has a population of 369 inhabitants (INE 2020). The municipality has a continental Mediterranean climate, with hot summers and cold winters. Its history dates back to the 13th century, when it was founded by the Order of Calatrava. The municipality has a rich heritage, including the Church of San Andrés Apóstol, built in the 16th century, and the Hermitage of San Isidro Labrador, built in the 18th century.
