Village of the Branch, New York, is a village in Suffolk County, Long Island, with a population of 1,993 as of the 2010 census. It is located on the north shore of Long Island, between the villages of Port Jefferson and Rocky Point. The village was originally settled by the Matinecock Indians, and was later purchased by English colonists in the 17th century. The village was named after a large branch of the Nissequogue River that flows through the area. The climate of Village of the Branch is humid continental, with hot, humid summers and cold, snowy winters.
