Vartholomión is a town in the municipality of Pineios, Elis, in the western Peloponnese, Greece. It is situated 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) south of Pyrgos and 43 kilometres (27 mi) northwest of Olympia. The town has a population of 2,933 (2011 census). The climate is Mediterranean with hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters. Vartholomión was founded in the 15th century by Albanian refugees. The town's economy is based on agriculture, with olives, grapes, and citrus fruits being the main crops. Vartholomión is also a popular tourist destination, with its sandy beaches and clear waters.
