It was first mentioned in a document from 1292, and was originally inhabited by German settlers. The village was later taken over by the Hungarians, and then by the Romanians. Valea Viilor is home to a number of historical landmarks, including the Lutheran church, which was built in the 15th century, and the Orthodox church, which was built in the 18th century.
