Urus-Martan, also known as Krasnoarmeyskoye, is a town in the Chechen Republic, Russia, located in the northern foothills of the Caucasus Mountains, at an elevation of 100 meters above sea level. The town has a humid continental climate with hot summers and cold winters. Urus-Martan was founded in the 13th century as a settlement of the Vainakh people. In the 19th century, it became a part of the Russian Empire. During the Chechen Wars, the town was heavily damaged. After the wars, it was rebuilt and has since become a major cultural and economic center in the Chechen Republic.
