Urmeniş, Romania, is a village in Bistrița-Năsăud County, in the historical region of Transylvania. It is located in the north-central part of the country, at an altitude of 380 meters (1,247 feet) above sea level. The village has a temperate climate, with warm summers and cold winters. The average temperature in January is -2°C (28°F), and the average temperature in July is 20°C (68°F). The village has a long history, dating back to the 13th century. It was first mentioned in a document from 1241, and it was part of the Kingdom of Hungary until 1526. After the Ottoman conquest of Hungary, Urmeniş became part of the Principality of Transylvania, and it remained part of the Habsburg Empire until 1918. After the First World War, Urmeniş became part of Romania. The village has a rich cultural heritage, and it is home to a number of historical monuments, including the 13th-century Roman Catholic church and the 15th-century Orthodox church.
