Urmatt is a commune in the Bas-Rhin department in Grand Est in northeastern France. It is located 20 km west of Strasbourg and 15 km north of Molsheim. The village is situated in the Bruche valley, on the banks of the Bruche River. The climate is temperate, with mild winters and warm summers. The average annual temperature is 10.5 °C (50.9 °F). The village has a rich history, dating back to the Middle Ages. It was first mentioned in 1125, and was part of the Holy Roman Empire until 1681, when it was annexed by France. The village is home to a number of historical buildings, including the 12th-century Romanesque church of Saint-Martin.
