Uren', a town in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, Russia, is located on the Usta River, a tributary of the Vetluga. The town has a humid continental climate with cold, snowy winters and warm, humid summers. Uren' was founded in 1584 and was originally a fort to protect the Russian border from Tatar raids. In the 18th century, Uren' became a center of trade and commerce, and in the 19th century, it became a major industrial center. Today, Uren' is home to a number of factories and industries, including a paper mill, a textile mill, and a food processing plant. The town also has a number of historical and cultural attractions, including the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Uren' Museum of Local Lore, and the Uren' Art Gallery.
