Ühlingen-Birkendorf is a municipality in the district of Waldshut in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is located in the southern part of the Black Forest, on the Wutach River. The municipality has a population of about 5,000 people and covers an area of about 50 square kilometers. The climate is temperate, with average temperatures ranging from 0°C in January to 20°C in July. The municipality was first mentioned in 1152 and has a long and rich history. It was once part of the Habsburg Empire and was later ruled by the Margraves of Baden. In 1806, it became part of the Grand Duchy of Baden and in 1945 it became part of the Federal Republic of Germany. The municipality is home to a number of historical buildings, including the ruins of Ühlingen Castle and the Church of St. Peter and Paul.
