It is located at an altitude of 876 meters above sea level and has a population of 1,080 inhabitants. The climate is Mediterranean, with hot summers and cold winters. The town has a rich history and heritage, with evidence of human occupation dating back to the Bronze Age. It was once a Roman settlement and later a Muslim stronghold. In the 11th century, it was reconquered by the Christians and became part of the Kingdom of Castile. The town's most famous landmark is the Church of Santa María la Mayor, which was built in the 13th century and is considered one of the finest examples of Gothic architecture in Spain.
