Tri-City, Oregon is located in Douglas County, in the Umpqua Valley region of southwestern Oregon. The city has a humid subtropical climate with warm, dry summers and cool, wet winters. The area was originally inhabited by the Umpqua tribe of Native Americans, and was later settled by European-Americans in the mid-19th century. The city was named for the three rivers that converge near the town site: the North Umpqua, Middle Umpqua, and South Umpqua Rivers.
