Torrent, also known as Torrente, is a municipality located in the comarca of Horta Oest in the province of Valencia, Spain. It is situated on the left bank of the Turia River, 8 kilometers northwest of the city of Valencia. The municipality has a population of 83,558 inhabitants (2020). The climate of Torrent is typically Mediterranean, with hot, dry summers and mild, rainy winters. The average temperature is 17.5 °C (63.5 °F) and the average annual rainfall is 450 mm (17.7 in). Torrent has a long and rich history, dating back to the Roman period. It was part of the Kingdom of Valencia from the 13th century until the 18th century. The municipality is home to a number of historical monuments, including the Church of San Pedro, the Palace of the Counts of Torrente, and the Convent of San Leandro.
