Tilton is a town in Belknap County, New Hampshire, United States. It is located on the Winnipesaukee River and has a population of 3,434 (2020 census). The town was founded in 1780 and is named after its founder, Peter Tilton. Tilton is home to the New Hampshire Farm Museum, which showcases the agricultural history of the state. The town also has a number of historic buildings, including the Tilton School, which was founded in 1845 and is now a private boarding school.
