Thomasville is a city in Clarke County, Alabama, United States, with a population of 4,299 as of the 2010 census. It is located in the southwest corner of the state, approximately 30 miles (48 km) north of Mobile and 60 miles (97 km) west of Montgomery. The city has a humid subtropical climate, with hot, humid summers and mild, wet winters. Thomasville was founded in 1819 and was named after General Jesse Thomas, a hero of the War of 1812. The city is home to several historic landmarks, including the Thomasville Historic District, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
