Thiais is a commune in the southern suburbs of Paris, France. It is located 11.4 km (7.1 mi) from the center of Paris, in the department of Val-de-Marne. The town has a temperate climate with mild winters and warm summers. Thiais was first mentioned in 1134 as "Theiacum". The name is thought to derive from the Gallo-Roman name "Teiacus". In the Middle Ages, Thiais was a small village, but it grew rapidly in the 19th century with the development of industry and the arrival of the railway. Today, Thiais is a thriving town with a diverse population.
