Taytay has a rich history and heritage, dating back to the pre-colonial period. The municipality was originally inhabited by the indigenous Tagbanua people. In the 16th century, Spanish missionaries arrived in Taytay and established a mission. The municipality became a part of the Philippines in 1898, after the Spanish-American War.
