Taşova is a town and district of Amasya Province in the Black Sea region of Turkey. It is located at an altitude of 1,200 m (3,900 ft) on the banks of the Yeşilırmak River. The climate is temperate, with hot summers and cold winters. The average temperature is 11.4 °C (52.5 °F), and the average annual precipitation is 620 mm (24.4 in). The history of Taşova dates back to the Hittites, who ruled the area in the 14th century BC. The town was later ruled by the Persians, Greeks, Romans, and Byzantines.
