Tarutyne is a city in the Odessa Oblast (province) of southwestern Ukraine, located in the historical region of Bessarabia. It is situated near the border with Moldova, approximately 180 kilometers southwest of the city of Odessa. The city has a humid continental climate with warm, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. Tarutyne was first mentioned in historical records in the 16th century and was part of the Ottoman Empire until the 18th century. It became part of the Russian Empire in 1812 and was granted city status in 1835. Tarutyne has a rich cultural heritage, with influences from various ethnic groups that have lived in the region, including Ukrainians, Russians, Bulgarians, and Moldovans.
