Tapia de Casariego, also known as Tapia, is a municipality in the autonomous community of the Principality of Asturias, in northern Spain. It is located on the coast of the Cantabrian Sea, in the western part of the region. The climate is temperate, with mild winters and warm summers. The average annual temperature is 13.6 °C (56.5 °F). The municipality has a rich history, with evidence of human settlement dating back to the Paleolithic era. The town was founded in the 13th century by King Alfonso X of Castile. Tapia de Casariego has a number of historical monuments, including the Church of San Esteban, the Chapel of San Roque, and the Palace of Camposagrado.
