Svetlyy, formerly known as Zimmerbude, is a town in Kaliningrad Oblast, Russia, located on the Baltic Sea coast. The town has a humid continental climate with warm, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. Svetlyy has a rich history dating back to the 13th century when it was a fishing village. In the 19th century, the town became a popular resort destination. After World War II, Svetlyy became part of the Soviet Union and was closed to foreigners. The town was reopened to foreigners in the 1990s and has since become a popular tourist destination.
