Suruç is a town and district of Şanlıurfa Province in southeastern Turkey. It is located on the banks of the Euphrates River, 45 kilometers east of the city of Şanlıurfa. The weather in Suruç is hot and dry in the summer, with average temperatures reaching 40 degrees Celsius. In the winter, the weather is cold and wet, with average temperatures dropping to 5 degrees Celsius. Suruç has a long history, dating back to the Roman period. It was once a major trading center on the Silk Road. The town is home to a number of historical sites, including the Suruç Castle and the Suruç Great Mosque.
