Surry, Virginia is a town located in Surry County, Virginia, United States. It is situated at the confluence of the James River and the Chickahominy River, approximately 25 miles (40 km) southeast of Richmond. The town has a humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and mild winters. Surry was founded in 1619 as Jamestown's first satellite settlement and is the oldest continuously inhabited English settlement in the United States. The town is home to several historic sites, including Bacon's Castle, which is the oldest brick house in the United States.
