Surazh, a town in the Bryansk Oblast of Russia, is situated on the banks of the Iput River, approximately 130 kilometers southwest of Bryansk. The town has a temperate continental climate with warm summers and cold winters. Surazh was first mentioned in historical records in 1610 and has a rich history as a trade and military outpost. It is home to several historical monuments, including the Church of the Transfiguration, built in 1789, and the ruins of the Surazh Fortress, which played a significant role in the defense of the region during the Russo-Polish War of 1654-1667.
