Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, is a city located at the head of Sturgeon Bay on the western shore of Lake Michigan, in the northeastern part of the state. The city has a humid continental climate with warm, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. The city was founded in 1835 by a group of settlers from New York and was originally known as "Little Sturgeon Bay". The city's name was changed to Sturgeon Bay in 1853. Sturgeon Bay is home to a number of historical sites, including the Door County Maritime Museum, the Sturgeon Bay Ship Canal, and the Eagle Bluff Lighthouse. The city is also home to a number of art galleries, shops, and restaurants.
