Straža, Slovenia, also known as Gorenja Straža, is a village in the Municipality of Žužemberk, southeastern Slovenia. It is located in the historical region of Lower Carniola and the traditional region of White Carniola. The village has a population of 322 and an elevation of 429 meters above sea level. The average temperature in Straža is 10.6 degrees Celsius and the average precipitation is 1,431 millimeters per year. Straža was first mentioned in written sources in 1247 as "Strazha". The name is derived from the Slavic word "straža", meaning "guard" or "watchtower". The village was part of the Habsburg monarchy from the 13th century until 1918, when it became part of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. During World War II, Straža was occupied by Nazi Germany and was the site of a concentration camp. After the war, Straža became part of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and, in 1991, part of the independent Republic of Slovenia.
