Star City is a city in Monongalia County, West Virginia, United States. It is located at the confluence of the Monongahela and Tygart Valley rivers, approximately 3 miles (4.8 km) south of Morgantown. The city has a humid subtropical climate, with hot, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. Star City was founded in 1907 as a coal mining town. The city's heritage is closely tied to the coal industry, and many of its residents still work in the mines.
