Stadtsen is a town in the district of Uelzen, Lower Saxony, Germany. It is located on the River Ilmenau, approximately 15 km north of Uelzen and 30 km southwest of Lüneburg. The town has a population of around 4,500 and is known for its historic town center, which features a number of well-preserved buildings from the 16th and 17th centuries. The climate is temperate, with average temperatures ranging from 3°C in January to 18°C in July. Stadensen was first mentioned in a document from 1252 and was granted town rights in 1320. The town has a rich history, having been ruled by the Dukes of Brunswick-Lüneburg, the Counts of Hoya, and the Archbishops of Bremen. Stadensen is also home to a number of cultural and historical landmarks, including the Stadensen Town Museum, the St. Vitus Church, and the Old Town Hall.
