South Yarmouth is a town in Barnstable County, Massachusetts, United States, located on the southern coast of Cape Cod. The town has a population of 11,581 (2020 census) and is part of the Cape Cod Metropolitan Statistical Area. South Yarmouth is known for its beautiful beaches, charming downtown area, and rich history. The town was first settled by English colonists in the 1630s and was originally known as "Yarmouth Port." The town was renamed "South Yarmouth" in 1847 to distinguish it from the neighboring town of Yarmouth. South Yarmouth has a humid continental climate with warm, humid summers and cold, snowy winters.
